Useful Resources for PhD students
"On Being a (Successful) Graduate Student" by Prof. Arthur Spirling
Prof. Arthur Spirling has put together his thoughts on "being a (successful) graduate student" brilliantly. I recommend all PhD students to read it. He's also written on manuscript rejection and job talks, which you can also find on his webpage.
"Good and Poor Feedback-Taking" by me
While "how to effectively give feedback" is a common topic, the effectiveness is limited if the receiver doesn't know how to take it. Poor feedback-taking is detrimental to one's career growth. Here are my thoughts on this, based on my observations of exceptional high performers I've got to work with.
"Publishing Tips" by Prof. Sara Mitchell
As PhD students transition from the consumers to the producers of publication-worthy research, they first need to learn how it works. I recommend all PhD students read Prof. Sara Mitchell's excellent overview of the journal publishing process.
